Rolling Release Updates
This page provides documentation of all improvements in rolling releases. It is expected that these new features will be added to the next major release.
Catalogue
Checkbox filters
Custom course fields of type Checkbox are now supported. In the example below, the first section represents a catalogue filter implemented as a dropdown menu, while the second section shows a filter using a checkbox.
By default, the label of the filter section and the name of the checkbox are the same. To modify the label of the filter section, edit the Field name in Fields to display in the learning catalogue filter.
Feature course highlighting
Courses can be highlighted, which is indicated via a customisable badge in the course image. Featured courses are listed first on the course catalogue main page (but not on the results page).
To highlight courses, you will need to go through the following steps:
- Add a course custom field of type Checkbox (see above)
- Select the custom field from the Featured custom field dropdown Learning catalogue settings.
- Go to each course that has to be highlighted and tick the Checkbox in the course settings
To display a dedicated section at the top of the catalogue, tick the Show featured section in catalogue option. The Featured section title lets you specify the heading of the featured section ("Featured" if left empty). You can provide optional instructions via the Featured section description setting.
When the featured section is activated, featured courses will still be shown in the All available courses section underneath, but the courses won't be shown at the top of the list.
Certifications
So far it was only possible to specify the expiry date when manually marking a certification; now, an option has been added to also specify the certification date. The new Certified date option can have two values:
- Now (default): User's certification will become certified immediately
- Select date: Select a custom date, which must be in the past
This new feature supports scenarios in which historical data without certification data has to be added to Moodle Workplace manually, and certification dates are set manually for individual users.
Custom pages
The Copy URL action has been added to the editing page of Custom pages.
A new Hide from navigation option has been added to custom pages. This allows administrators to create pages that are not shown in the primary navigation, but can be referenced to from other locations via its URL.
The Show in primary navigation option is available when creating a new custom page:
You can also change the navigation from the menu when managing custom pages (Show / Hide from navigation)
Dynamic rules
User profile fields in dynamic rule conditions now support Textarea fields.
Organisation structure
It is now possible to add new users from the People tab in the Organisation structure tool. A new dropdown +Add button has been added to the , with the following 2 options: New user and New job.
- After selecting New user, a modal will open that lets you enter user details.
- After adding a new user, an info alert will display at the top of the screen that lets you navigate to new user's job and report lines page.
This option should simplify the workflow to onboard new users in Workplace, as HR representatives can add new users and define reporting lines for them in the same place.
Programs
Resetting programs was only supported for scenarios when the Allocation source was set to manual. Now, dynamic allocations are also supported.
